Meet Lisa

Lisa Rogers is a mom, daughter, and a new grandmother whose vision is to develop and build pathways to leadership that cover all levels of the Delta hierarchy.

“Here am I Lord, send me” (Isaiah 6:8). Stepping outside of one’s comfort zone takes strength and courage that supersede the natural and require support and guidance from the supernatural. To answer the call to serve involves vision and tenacity, leading to inherent selflessness. As a slated candidate for Chair, 2024 Regional Nominating Committee, my vision is to develop and build pathways to leadership. Achieving a full slate is a challenge but not impossible. We must demystify the stigma often associated with leadership in large organizations like Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I will do this through three basic concepts: Mentorship, Education, and Collaboration. By leveraging established sorority leadership and mentoring programs, we can facilitate the region’s solicitation, development, and natural progression of leadership. Our region is filled with talented, resourceful, and resilient women who will shine at any level in our sorority. My job as chair is to identify and recruit that talent to build the future of our organization. Continuous education through webinars and targeted workshop modules will equip Sorors to be prepared for nomination and better informed on the importance of representation. Finally, developing an open communication pipeline will facilitate cooperative collaboration in identifying qualified and electable candidates in the Sensational South Atlantic Region. 

When I think about why I’m running for the position of Chair, 2024 Regional Nominating Committee, I think about the passage in Isaiah the sixth chapter, where Isaiah here’s the voice of the Lord asking, “Who shall I send?” and Isaiah responds, “Here am I. Send me!” To paraphrase that passage, “Here am I Delta, send me!”

  • Create learning modules on key components for seeking office
  • Host webinars and workshops to educate members on position roles and responsibilities

Mentorship

  • Establish a candidate baseline by leveraging past and existing sorority mentorship programs
  • Facilitate mentor/mentee relationships to cultivate future leaders.

Collaboration

  • Maintain an open line of communication to facilitate the natural progression of leadership.
  • Develop a leadership pipeline through collaboration and consultation with past leaders and leadership program participants.
