About Lisa Rogers

“To effectively affect change, you have to become a part of the solution.”

Soror Rogers was initiated into the Epsilon Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on March 15, 1992, on the campus of Norfolk State University. Since joining the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter, Lisa has been a dedicated and committed member, serving on the chapter’s Executive Board since 2006. She has served as chair of the Information and Communications Committee and was subsequently elected to serve as the Treasurer, where she helped to establish the chapter’s travel policy. She served as Vice President and is the Immediate Past President. Nearing the end of her Presidency, the nation was hit with a unique situation, a global pandemic, forcing everyone into a new normal of seclusion, social distancing, mask mandates, and virtualization. Soror Rogers was instrumental in establishing the chapter’s posture to continue operations during the pandemic. Soror Rogers implemented the technology and processes that helped the chapter continue operations while the world was shutting down and initiated 40 new Sorors into the sisterhood for Portsmouth Alumnae’s first virtual membership intake. In addition to her previous leadership roles, Soror Rogers has served as Chair of the Finance and Policies & Procedures Committees; and a member of the Social Action, Membership Services, May Week, STEM, Financial Fortitude, Delta Academy, EMBODI, Technology, and Community Day Committees. Currently, Soror Rogers serves as the Parliamentarian and Journalist/Publicity Committee Chair. Since assuming the Journalist Chair, the committee has nearly doubled the social media following for the chapter. Soror Rogers is a 2016 graduate of the South Atlantic Region Leadership Fellows program on the regional level. She is a certified Membership Intake Trainer, DID Trainer Risk Management Coordinator, and Collegiate Advisor. She served on the planning committee for two Virginia State Meetings hosted by the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter, serving as Treasurer in 2008 and President in 2018.

The explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger inspired Soror Rogers to pursue a career in information technology. Initially setting out to help develop early detection systems to prevent future disasters of that caliber, Soror Rogers found her passion in computer system administration. She has served as a DoD Contractor for more than 25 years administering systems to various branches of the armed forces to train the warfighter to protect our freedom better. Soror Rogers received her BS Degree in Computer Science from Norfolk State University and has numerous certifications related to the information technology field. She currently works for the Joint Staff SOF Cyber Range. Soror Rogers is the daughter of South Carolinian-born parents Ander Rogers, Sr. (deceased), and Bertha Rollerson Rogers. She is the sister to three veteran military brothers and one educator sister. She is the proud mother of one son, Andre J. Rogers, and the new grandmother to Makai Isaiah Rogers. Soror Rogers enjoys reading, doing graphic design, dancing, and spending time with family and friends in her spare time.
